2024 Discover Ipswich Visitor Guide
INTO THE GREAT OUTDOORS!
In Ipswich from January to November you can take part in a series of active outdoor events from cycling and mountain biking to adventure racing and trail running. There are options for the whole family in the upcoming Ipswich 100, Park2Park, Scenic Rim Trail Running Series or Escape Raid, just to name a few. With more than 8,500ha of open parks and conservation areas, it’s no wonder Ipswich is home to so many outdoor recreation and endurance events.
Nature at Night and Nocturnal Nature Detectives For families with young children, Ipswich City Council offers a kid friendly variant of the night-time bush experience in Nature at Night and Nocturnal Nature Detectives. These much smaller escapades into the wilderness are distinguished by their interactive and educational elements, bush stories, animal depictions and simplified explanations of the natural world all targeted towards a younger audience. Exploring White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate, these tours involve a walk and talk, stop start, hands on approach to learning – broken up by physical activity and spotlighting. These tours usually book out pretty fast, so grab a spot while you can. Night hikes can be booked via the tours page on the Discover Ipswich website and are released at various times of the year.
