What that means: Water near House A (upstream) is higher than the 15m shown at the gauge due to the floodwater being able to move freely from further up the river towards the mouth of the Bremer River House A is more likely to be impacted by flood water than House B in this example Water near House B (downstream) is lower than the 15m shown at the gauge due to the water flowing freely into the Brisbane River.
