Time to pack your picnic basket and head west of Brisbane to the City of Ipswich, just a short drive along the M7, to enjoy a picnic at any one of these glorious Ipswich locations. 1. Queens Park – this renowned local park, established in 1842, sits proudly in the heart of the City of Ipswich. Beautiful sprawling Queens Park encompasses a nature centre complete with native Australian animals, formal garden beds, children’s play area, hilltop lookout, even a cafe (for those that forgot the picnic basket) and lots of open picnic spaces complete with benches and tables. This is the park with something for everyone to enjoy. 2. Colleges Crossing Recreation Reserve – The crossing is a low level bridge that crosses the Brisbane River at Chuwar. The large grassed area is perfect for family sports with bike paths and walking tracks, BBQ facilities and cafe. Make a day of it and bring your picnic basket for a relaxing day out for all ages. 3. Limestone Park – about five minutes drive from Queens Park is Limestone Park, a great picnic spot for exercise lovers and those yearning for wide, open spaces. This park is the home of Ipswich Little Athletics and if you and your family enjoy exercise you will definitely work up an appetite after walking along the pathways, kicking the footy around on the field or enjoying the play equipment. BBQ facilities and covered picnic shelters are available for your next picnic.

4. Bob Gamble Park – has to be hands down the best picnic spot to take the kids to in Ipswich. What doesn’t Bob Gamble Park have to offer? With a water play area, flying fox, log swing, climbing structure, traditional swings, Discovery Forest complete with awesome forts, wooden totem poles and a bridge across an old creek bed, plus BBQ facilities and a large grassy area, toilets and change rooms, these super clean facilities and adventure park are without a doubt kid picnic heaven. 5. Denmark Hill Conservation Park – if a picnic in the bush is more your style then this is the location for you. With the carpark situated close to the picnic spots and BBQ facilities, it makes it easy to carry your picnic basket to your chosen site. After your picnic enjoy a bushwalk through the reserve on one of the walking circuits or head up to the water tower on Denmark Hill, take the stairs to the top of the tower and check out the stunning views over Ipswich. 6. Robelle Domain Parklands – situated in Springfield Central, which is still part of the City of Ipswich. Robelle Domain is another fabulous kid friendly picnic parkland complete with a rainforest walk, water play area, bike path, walking tracks and the ever popular fun filled Orion Lagoon. Keep an eye out for the interactive play equipment and the sound and light show that takes place early each night. Everyone will have worked up an appetite after playing in the park and be ready to enjoy a picnic or BBQ at one of the many picnic shelters. This is just a handful of the glorious Ipswich locations you can visit on your next picnic adventure. Check out DiscoverIpswich.com.au for more picnic locations.
