Open Wednesday to Saturday 10.00 am – 2.00 pm. 3. ScotlandYard Antiques Scotland Yard, located in Marburg, is a town icon and has been part of the community for an impressive 25 years. Scotland Yard boasts an array of Victorian and Edwardian items, alongside touches of a country-vibe with cast iron fences, rustic doors and gates, and characteristic finds from Queenslander houses. Realistic pricing keeps stock changing, allowing new treasures to be discovered. One visit is never enough so be sure to pop in whenever you are in the area. Open 9.00 am – 4.00 pm daily. 4. The Black Museum Close to Scotland Yard, and next door to the popular cafe and plant store Special Branch Collective, you will find the latest addition to the Marburg town centre called The Black Museum. If you are looking for something unique, something a little different, or something a little special then this is the place for you. With an eclectic array of items including antique furniture, on-trend wicker pieces and home decor, you will be sure to find something you never knew you wanted here. With the largest number of pre-1945 homes in Queensland as well as numerous heritage listed commercial buildings, Ipswich has plenty to offer the avid history buff. Originally a mining settlement, Ipswich’s history began in 1827 with much of its original architectural, natural and cultural heritage still left untouched in the area. But the history doesn’t stop at the architecture, the Ipswich area also boasts an impressive collection of vintage and antique shops. Hop in the car and travel around the area admiring the historical beauties, while you browse these gorgeous antique collections, and sample the many flavours of the region at local historical pubs and/or cafes.
1. Ipswich Antique Centre The Ipswich Antique Centre has been a
long-standing staple in Ipswich’s community. Housed in the Heritage Listed Uniting Church Central Memorial Hall built in 1895, the building itself is as impressive as what is held inside. The Antique Centre is huge and it really has everything, including a specialised Retro Room. Looking for Australian pottery, vintage clothing or an exquisite piece of antique jewellery? You won’t go wrong here. Open 10.00 am – 5.00 pm Thursday to Monday. 2.
