HE [ ART ] OF THE CITY If you’re an art lover then you’ll be in your element with a trip to Ipswich. There’s an official Street Art Trail featuring murals completed as part of the Brisbane Street Art Festival as well as existing favourites depicting birds and vintage cars.

Distant Country by Rachael Sarra

You’ll find The Unveiling by Gus Eagleton in Icon Alley. This impressive mural depicts a lead singer from an Ipswich band walking down the street on a Thursday night. Distant Country by Rachael Sarra can be found along East St on a wall at the Ipswich Health Plaza. The bright, bold work is in Sarra’s trademark pink, orange, red and white colours with a symbolic blue figure. Find a beautiful mural of Blue Fairy Wrens by David W Houghton on the side of the Ipswich City Uniting Church along Ellenborough Street

and Doves by RC_Collecive on the laneway to the right of the church. For more street art locations see DiscoverIpswich.com.au/streetart You will also find art inside the Ipswich Art Gallery , which hosts touring art exhibitions and exhibits designed for children inside the dedicated children's gallery. Then there’s quirky and eclectic spaces like Banshees Bar and Art Space , a bar in the CBD that features local and touring art on its walls.

Arttime Supplies in the Ipswich CBD is owned by local artist Kate Roberts who has a dedicated exhibition space and classroom inside. Arttime also sells art supplies, art and artisan products. Another space to visit is Julesart Studio and Gallery . Jules runs art classes from the Dinmore studio and her paintings and ceramics line the gallery space. At the Sip ‘n’ Dip studio in Goodna you’ll find art and craft by local makers, you can even take a class in painting, resin and jewellery making.
