Sweet tooth Erin Davis shares her favourite spots in Marburg

As a proud Ipswich local, Erin Davis is on a mission to show visitors how charming the township of Marburg is, and why it is a worthy detour off the Warrego Highway. In 2021 she founded the Great Marburg Bake Off – a fun and tasty event that attracts dozens of baking enthusiasts and cake lovers alike. Erin also brings the community together with a number of nostalgic events like The Baker’s Ball, the Pétanque and Pimm’s Picnic, plus hands-on kitchen workshops. “Marburg is such a charming little town with friendly people, unique stores and amazing eateries,” she says. “I started The Great Marburg Bake Off as a fun way to bring the community together with cake and to help bring in more tourists so they can see what makes Marburg so special. “I really love it here, and I just want to share that feeling with others.” Here are some of Erin’s must-see spots so you too can create your own sweet memories in Marburg. ScotlandYard Antiques “With lots of unique furniture pieces, shiny chandeliers, vintage homewares and more, you can’t go past Scotland Yard Antiques. The owner handwrites all of the price tags himself, which are very creative and funny. The large London phone box out the front of the store is also a town icon.”
