HATCHING THE LUCKY ONES
Denzel Kennedy is a Brisbane-based Indigenous hip-hop and rap artist. Denzel’s cultural roots run deep, gathering inspiration from his Kalkadoon heritage and the traditional country that surrounds the Mount Isa region. Denzel blends traditional hip-hop elements with boom-bap and jazz influences, creating a sound that is both contemporary and culturally resonant. His upcoming EP represents a new chapter in his artistic evolution. Denzel is a busy man. Not only is his music career going from strength to strength, but he also finds time
to balance his creative life with being a player for the Men’s NBL1 Ipswich Force team, Indigenous Support Officer at Ipswich Grammar School, whilst studying to be a teacher. In November, Denzel will be a Hatchery 4305 resident at Studio 188 , where he will be hatching songs for his upcoming EP/album ‘The Lucky Ones’. The residency will provide Denzel access to a recording studio in a professional space and a creative environment. It is also an opportunity to produce higher quality works which in turn deliver better listening/performance experiences for audiences. Come and celebrate Denzel’s EP at The Lucky Ones Listening Party.
