Ipswich in Winter 2023

Message from Ipswich Mayor, Teresa Harding It’s winter in Ipswich, one of our busiest seasons of the year for exciting events and celebrations. Indoors by a warm fire, or outdoors on crisp sunny days, Ipswich has so much to offer to keep you entertained and enthralled through the colder months. Each year I think Ipswich’s list of events and programs just grows longer and longer, with something for everyone. The Festival of Horsepower is first up, the annual June festival of signature racing and motorsport events, bringing mechanical speed and equine power to the fore in some thrilling days on the tracks. From Thursday 6 to Sunday 16 July, SPARK Ipswich will celebrate the people, places, arts and culture of Ipswich, from cabaret to comedy, music, circus and light projections, in a festival that will expand your sense of wonder.

Step outside your door and explore our region across these beautiful colder months. If you’re looking for an alternative to dinner and a movie, there’s a host of concerts and performances for young and old at the Ipswich Civic Centre. Stop off for trivia or local comedy in Studio 188 – Ipswich’s emerging artist performance space crafted out of the former Art-Deco Baptist Church. On a fresh winter day, there’s nothing better than a stroll through Queens Park in the heart of Ipswich or further afield at White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate. If it’s raining, there are plenty of options such as a coffee and a browse through the shops at Top of Town and the Nicholas Street Precinct. Our libraries at Ipswich, Springfield and Rosewood all offer Makerspaces, offering 3D printing, floor projection and even virtual reality.
