Down on the farm Take a country road trip beyond the heritage city for some of the coolest farm experiences you’ll find anywhere in Queensland. Here are seven worth driving for.
Ironbark Ridge Vineyard
Ride a bike through the vineyard here or enjoy a spot of mountain gazing with a cheese plate and wine tasting. Fresh plans are unfolding at this scenic spot which is also a favourite stopping place for Pterodactyl Helicopters. Find Ironbark Ridge Vineyard at 478 Middle Road, Purga.

Flinders Peak Winery Here’s another smashing spot – and popular wedding venue – where you can soak up some country air on a working property. It’s not only wine flowing from this winery either – there’s an on-site distillery producing such drops as the Missin’ Ippy moonshine, and there are special feasting and imbibing events throughout the year to watch out for. Find Flinders Peak Winery at 1544–1580 Ipswich Boonah Road, Peak Crossing.
Watercress Creek Olives and Limes Here’s an idyllic spot where you can wander in the shady olive grove or lime orchard and talk to Bernie – the fourth generation Pine Mountain farmer who runs this property. His juicy fresh limes go into many a mojito sold in Brisbane bars, and the olives are turned into a range of infused olive oils and bottled olives you can buy from the farmyard gate. Every April there’s the Watercress Creek Olive and Lime Festival – a fantastic day out with live music, craft and food stalls. Find Watercress Creek Olives and Limes at 53 Bryces Road, Pine Mountain.
