Exploring Marburg

Just 15 minutes west of Ipswich CBD you’ll find the charming and historic town of Marburg. The streets are lined with beautifully restored heritage buildings including a German Baptist Church , Bielefeld’s Store and the historic hotel which was built in 1881. There’s plenty to see and do on foot. Start with a stroll down the main street checking out the old buildings, including the Marburg Community Centre which used to be the town bank and the Post Office. While you’re having a look around don’t miss the old police station , courthouse and the Anglican cemetery .

Stop by ScotlandYard Antiques where you can find just about anything from furniture to art and homewares. They have an array of Victorian and Edwardian items, alongside rustic doors and gates. Just a few metres down you’ll find Special Branch Collective a charming cafe offering antiques, coffee, plants and gifts. Just outside the town centre you’ll find Woodlands of Marburg , an iconic heritage listed mansion that was completed in 1890.
