Weekend farm visits
Picnic packs are available to purchase with a range of olives and spreads all made from the produce grown onsite. After you’ve wandered the grove, stock up on olive oils, tapenades, jams and relishes to take home. Next, you’ll be walking a llama at the home of Queensland’s largest herd of llamas! The Llama Farm , located only 20 minutes from Watercress Creek Olives and Limes, runs tours on weekends including a morning farm tour and afternoon llama walks. The walk is spectacular along a purpose-built trail leading down to the Brisbane River, which backs onto the property. Take a selfie with a friendly llama and learn their names as farmer Shane Hancock knows them all. The farm is also home to donkeys, goats, miniature ponies, peacocks and camels. Spend the night at a farm stay nearby. Eight minutes away you will find Pocket Retreats
set on a 120 acre cattle farm. This property also has exclusive access to a beautiful section of the Brisbane River. Another farm stay option is Tallavalley Farm B&B , a three-bedroom cottage on a working farm at Tallegalla. The cottage features a deck overlooking the gardens and surrounding farmland. Here you can make friends with the resident horses and cattle. The next morning either drive to Mysteria Alpacas in Grandchester, Summer Land Camels in Harrisville or Naughty Little Kids in Peak Crossing. Meet the friendly alpacas, camels and goats at these farms. At Naughty Little Kids and Summer Land Camels you can take a tour to learn how the farmers make gelato and cheese using goat or camel milk products. Camel rides are also on offer at Summer Land Camels and there is a cafe onsite.
There’s nothing better than spending the day soaking up the sunshine and breathing in some country air. Luckily there’s quite a few ways to enjoy farm life in Ipswich. Start with a morning session at EWE Nique Hobby Farm . This authentic farm tour runs for 90 minutes and includes a range of farmyard friends including sheep, lambs, alpacas, goats, chickens and geese. They’ve also recently added a dinosaur experience with replica dinos inside a lush area with fish ponds and birds. After you have visited the animals, enjoy a drink and homemade goodies from the Baa Baa Coffee Shed onsite – this experience is particularly good for families with young children. Your next stop is only 15 minutes away at Watercress Creek Olives and Limes in Pine Mountain. Book a picnic in the olive grove or take a tour of the orchard.
