Ipswich in Summer 22-23
Make sure your summer is one to remember for all the right reasons by carrying out a few simple checks around your pool/spa. Actively checking your pool barrier and surrounds can save a life. Pool gates should only open outwards away from the pool and must be self-closing and self-latching The latch must be at least 1.5m from the ground to the underside of the latch-release handle, to prevent unsupervised access by young children Pool fences must be a minimum of 1.2m high. Climbable objects close to the pool fence (such as trees, plants and garden beds, outdoor furniture, toys or other nearby structures) can reduce the effective height of your fence Look for signs of deterioration such as rust, loose hinges or broken panels and arrange for immediate repair Check that your pool is recorded on the QBCC Pools Register (Qbcc.qld.gov.au). If the property has been recently sold or rented, a Pool Safety Certificate should be recorded.
The above safety checks are a guide only and do not constitute acknowledgment or approval of compliance or safety.
