ACTIVE AND HEALTHY PROGRAM GROWS

Ipswich City Council’s popular Active and Healthy Program continues to be embraced by the community as residents get active and make new connections. Council is delivering on its commitment to enhance the quality of life for the community through a range of free and low-cost group sports, recreation and wellness activities. In the 2022-2023 financial year, the Active and Healthy Program saw participation grow to 18,554 over a total of 1,112 activities, events and workshops delivered.

This equates to a 73 per cent increase on participation from the 2021-2022 financial year (10,708 participants) and a 30 per cent growth in the number of activities delivered to the community (857 activities). New in 2022-2023 included the launch of the Active Wellbeing Program – a new program focusing on gentle movement and connection to mind and body and a Nutrition Workshop series, with topics including Eat the Rainbow, Health on a Budget and Healthy Supermarket Hacks.
