to Ipswich Welcome We’re delighted to welcome you to Ipswich – where heritage charm meets a cheeky sense of adventure. Explore our character-filled neighbourhoods, wander leafy parks and river trails, uncover creative corners and local stories, or simply slow down and enjoy the friendly hospitality that defines our city. You’ll find a place that feels original – authentic and deeply rooted in its flavours, its people, its landscapes and its spirit. Share a laugh, discover a hidden gem, meet a local, or take a detour you didn’t plan for – that’s all part of what makes this place uniquely Ipswich. If something catches your eye (and it often does), we’d love to see it. Share your Ipswich discoveries and connect with us online – your stories help showcase what makes our city so special. On behalf of our community, enjoy your time with us. Make yourself at home, explore widely and experience Ipswich for yourself. Mayor Teresa Harding City of Ipswich
Acknowledgement of country Gurumba Bigi (good day) and welcome. Ipswich, located on Yugara/Yagara Country, known traditionally in the Yugara/Yagara language as Tulmur, has been home to First Nations peoples since before the beginnings of recorded European arrival. The Traditional Owners of the Ipswich region are the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul peoples, those who are a part of the Yugara/Yagara language group. We recognise and acknowledge the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul peoples as the custodians for the beautiful land and waters in the Ipswich region. Ipswich is proud of this ancient culture, which has been on Country for thousands of years, and respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the Country on which we work, live and play. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, as the keepers of the traditions, customs, cultures and stories of proud peoples. We look forward to working with all First Nations peoples in the Ipswich region to share culture through tourism, in a spirit of mutual respect and reconciliation.

Want to feel the heartbeat of a country town? Start at the local pub – where the beer is cold, the food is hearty and the good times are always flowing. These iconic watering holes serve up local flavours, warm hospitality and plenty of character. Whether you’re on a day trip, road trip or weekend escape, you can’t go past these six legendary spots.
Grandchester Hotel This is country charm at its finest. Known for its amazing food, great beer and atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else, the Grandchester Hotel has been a favourite for decades. Rebuilt in the 1950s after a fire, it now dishes up crispy fried wings, steak sandwiches and house- made chocolate brownies. The menu is a mix of classics and modern bites – think lamb shanks, crumbed steak, honey-glazed baked camembert and roast pumpkin halloumi salad. There’s also a beer garden, gaming room and drive-thru bottle shop. Walloon Hotel Serving locals and travellers since 1891, the Walloon Hotel is big on flavour and country hospitality. Every plate is generous and packed with local goodness – from black angus rump steak to bangers and mash and a seafood platter. Friday nights are a hit with live entertainment and raffles.
Marburg Hotel This heritage-listed Queenslander has been pouring drinks since 1881. Nab a spot on the verandah and enjoy lunch or dinner from Wednesday to Sunday. The menu? Juicy steaks, lip-smacking burgers and desserts worth every bite.
Falvey’s Sundowner Saloon You can’t miss this one – bright pink walls and a giant Bundy Rum bottle mark the spot! Step inside for a wild-west vibe and a bistro serving up weekly specials like kids- eat-free night, wings night and two-course roasts. Open seven days for a cold beer and a hearty feed.
